Purpose of this VOC:

This Verification of Competence (VOC) is designed to confirm that existing employees who operate wheeled front end loaders are:

Currently competent in the safe operation of the equipment.
Possess up-to-date theoretical knowledge relevant to workplace SOP and workplace health and safety requirements.
Can demonstrate practical operational competence through direct observation.

This VOC: Does not constitute training and does not result in the issue of a unit of competence. This VOC assessment is conducted for workplace assurance, governance, and workplace health and safety purposes.

Scope:

This VOC applies to workplace employees, operators with prior training, tickets, or demonstrated workplace experience using wheeled front end loaders in civil construction and/or workplace maintenance activities.

Pre-Assessment Requirements:

Prior to undertaking this VOC, the participant must

Provide evidence of previous training, qualifications, or work experience.
Hold current workplace site inductions.
Confirm that they are medically fit to operate the plant.
Hold any relevant licences required by workplace policy and procedures.

Assessment Duration:

The practical assessment must be conducted through direct observation in a workplace or approved simulated environment. The total observation time should not exceed one (1) hour.

Observation may occur in staged segments depending on site operations; however, all required criteria must be observed and recorded.

If gaps are identified: - The outcome will be Not Yet Competent – Targeted retraining and reassessment will be recommended.

VOC Valid Until: 2 Years from Date of Assessment.

NOTE: Industry Practice for VOC Frequency is every 2 years. Other reasons for VOC assessment, regardless of time or qualifications held, include: ✔ Prior to site start mobilisations. ✔ After extended absence from equipment. ✔ Following an incident or near miss.
